About me
I’m Alex, a photographer and private tour guide based in the Scottish Highlands.
Photography has been a huge part of my life for many years. My work has taken me from photographing landscapes and wild places to portraits, events and properties, but Scotland's landscape has always been where I feel most at home with a camera.
I've spent years exploring Scotland, camping in the hills and travelling its quieter roads in search of places to photograph. Without really knowing it at the time, I was planning my own tours long before Scotland Scenic Tours existed — learning the roads, linking locations together and discovering how the landscape changes with the weather, seasons and light.
Scotland Scenic Tours grew naturally from wanting to share my love of Scotland and the places I've discovered along the way with other people.
My tours are relaxed, personal and never rushed. I'm not a historian with a script, but I've developed a genuine interest in the history, culture and stories connected to the places I visit, and I'm always learning more. What I know best is the landscape itself and the places I've discovered through years of exploring and photographing it.
For me, a great tour isn't about ticking off as many stops as possible. It's about taking the time to enjoy where you are, changing plans when Scotland gives us something unexpected and sometimes taking the quieter road simply because it feels like the better one.
Being able to share a little of the Scotland I've come to know with the people who join me is genuinely one of my favourite parts of what I do.
